Volkswagen National Development Team members continue their strong form.
The latest races in Canada again show the great form of our up and coming Volkswagen National Development Team Skiers, racing on their training slopes of Nakiska, the team (pictured below from the left: Charlotte Newbold, Harriet Miller-Brown and Allie McGlinn; photo copyright Mike Gould, 2008) completed a clean sweep of the podium in the J1 girls category and both Janelle Miller and Nicola Eves also featured on the podium overall. Congratulations go to these athletes. Jamie Prebble, who unfortunately injured himself in the same series, scored a wonderful 69 point Super G result just before at Apex. Well done Jamie and good luck with the recovery. The K2 members of the team have been racing as well, with Nick Prebble starting at the back of the field to finish second, this was followed up by strong performances from Richard Stevens and Sophie Jamieson. Volkswagen Team Members Win prestigious Inspiring New Zealanders Scholarships
Janelle Miller and Taylor Rapley have both been awarded an Inspiring New Zealanders Scholarship, following in the footsteps of Ben Griffin and Tim Café. They will enjoy one on one sessions with Claudia Reigler and a wonderful trip to the Olympic city of Beijing. This Scholarship is sponsored by Air New Zealand and will also give our girls a return ticket to a competition or training camp on the Air New Zealand network. Volkswagen National Ski Team update
Another result from Ben Griffin, this time a 25 point result in Italy as the team start their European leg. The team are now training before their next competition block with Coach Nils Coberger in Gmund, Austria and are in great spirits heading in the middle of their season. Tim Café, Mark Bridgwater and Angus Howden will be looking to keep up the pressure on Ben heading in to their next round of competitions. Keep an eye on their progress on our website. Janelle Miller with Development Team mate Nicola Eves, will be heading to Europe shortly to join them.
