The Ski Racing New Zealand (SRNZ) has held discussions with Snow Sports New Zealand (SSNZ) regarding full integration with SSNZ, the National Sporting Organisation that represents each of the snow sports disciplines in New Zealand.
At present, SSNZ staff are already providing a range of administrative services to SRNZ, including financial/accounting duties and communications/media services.
The Board of SRNZ believes further benefits can be gained by full integration, through improved operation efficiencies and reducing duplication of expenses and resources.
“There are a number of steps that need to be taken before full integration can happen but the Board’s of both organisations are working on an integration plan and once settled proposals will be put to the members of both organisations for their consideration and determination,” said Ski Racing Board Chair Tony Oxnevad.
In the meantime progress has been made in the selection of a new General Manager for Ski Racing. Both organisations expect to be able to announce this appointment in the very near future.
It is contemplated that the new General Manager will be based at the SSNZ offices in Wanaka, and will report directly to SSNZ CEO Ross Palmer but will take strategic direction from the SRNZ Board.
Until this appointment is made, day-to-day operations of SRNZ are being coordinated by Tony Oxnevad.
Ski Racing New Zealand 2009 Winter programmes are progressing as usual. The National Team, which will be named later this month, will continue to be coached by Nils Coberger, and the National Development Team will continue to be coached by Mike Gould and Pete Sanford.
