Lake Wanaka, New Zealand – 08 September, 2009 – The National Ski Championships have wrapped up this week with Sarah Jarvis and Angus Howden announced as overall champions.

Jarvis, of Whakapapa, made it a hat trick, while Angus Howden, of Wellington, stamped his name on the trophy for the top placing male Kiwi overall.

Jarvis was unchallenged for the overall title as the first Kiwi female across the line in all three disciplines of the National Ski Championships; Giant Slalom, Slalom and the Super G.

“I had a really good week of skiing and it feels great to win all four titles, including the overall title,” said Jarvis. “I feel really confident going into the ANC Finals this week.”

Howden was the top-placing Kiwi in the slalom, and was third fastest in both Super G and Giant Slalom.
Both Jarvis and Howden have been awarded a use of a vehicle from Jucy rentals next ski season.

“The National championships proved to be a great success this year,” said Snow Sports New Zealand’s Alpine Director, James Lazor. “The New Zealanders showed well against one of the strongest international fields ever seen at the National Championships. Mt Hutt and Coronet Peak put on a top notch event.”
