SRNZ UNVEILS NEW TEAM MEMBERS

Following the latest selections, SRNZ is proud to announce the following athletes have been selected to the Volkswagen National Ski Team and Volkswagen National Development Team, these are in addition to the current team members.  We would like to wish them all the best for the coming season.  We will keep you posted on their progress.  Thank you to all athletes who applied but were not selected, it was a tough decision and the selectors look forward to receiving your applications again in 2008.

Volkswagen National Ski Team:

Tim Café (Queenstown) joins Mark Bridgwater (Team Hutt), Janelle Miller (Queenstown), Angus Howden (Whakapapa), Scott Gange (Queenstown) & Ben Griffin (Whakapapa)

Volkswagen National Development Team:

Scott Chapman (Team Hutt), Sophia Jamieson (Wanaka), Ben Jamieson (Wanaka), Finlay Neeson (Turoa), Nick Prebble (Queenstown) & Richard Stevens (Queenstown) join Jamie Prebble (Team Hutt), Nicola Eves (Queenstown), Taylor Rapley (Queenstown), Harriet Miller-Brown (Queenstown), Charlotte Newbold (Queenstown) & Ali McGlinn (Team Hutt)

Alice Ralston (Queenstown) was also nominated by the selectors for a place in the Volkswagen National Ski Team but was unable to take up her place because the programme is not available for her at this time. She will be training with the Vail Ski Team in Colorado this summer, SRNZ would like to wish her all the best.

Other applications were received from many athletes, with competition especially fierce for the Volkswagen National Development Team, each athletes application was reviewed on merit by the selectors and there were several very tough choices.  SRNZ hopes that this is the sign of things to come, with great athletes competing for limited places, spurring each other on to better and better things.  We wish each athlete every success in their programmes this summer especially those who were unsuccessful in their application and we look forward to receiving their applications in time for the next round of selections in April.
