SKI RACING NEW ZEALAND’S TOP ATHLETE INJURED

Ski Racing New Zealand is sad to announce that current Volkswagen National Team Member and highest world ranked New Zealander, Ben Griffin was injured whilst training in Christchurch yesterday.

SELECTIONS ANNOUNCED FOR VOLKSWAGEN NATIONAL TEAMS

Ski Racing NZ today announced its Volkswagen National Ski Teams for the 2008, led by 20 year old, Ohakune resident Benjaman Griffin.

SKI RACING & BLACK ON WHITE IN 3 YEAR DEAL

Ski Racing New Zealand and Snowvision Foundation signed a 3 year deal to support both the Volkswagen National Ski Team and Volkswagen National Development Team.  The deal was signed by Fiona Stevens from Snowvision and Simon Mills from Ski Racing, both are very excited about working together and bringing more and more support to our athletes and teams.

BEN GRIFFIN WINS FIS SG

Volkswagen National Team member Ben Griffin today won his first FIS SG in Europe, the first man to do so since Simon Wi Rutene, scoring 25 points.  Coach Nils Coberger says Ben just cleaned up, but the whole team skied well too. Full results are available shortly.

BEN GRIFFIN AT WORLD CUP GS

Ben Griffin and Coach Nils Coberger have been to the Kransjka Gora World Cup Giant Slalom in Slovenia.  This was Ben's first World Cup and despite finishing 55th and not qualifiing for the second run benefited immensely from the experience.  Coberger says that Ben is ready to start competing in World Cups and should go from strength to strength over the coming few seasons.  Follow Ben's progress next year on the World Cup circuit here.
