It was Mark's second ever World Cup Downhill and despite some tough equipment challenges, Mark finished a credible 4.7 seconds behind the winner. Mark was joined at the World Cup by training companion Brenton Fetterplace from Australia in his first World Cup. Volkswagen National Ski Team Head Coach Nils Coberger praised Mark for his result, saying that it gave them a good starting block for the coming NORAM races on the same course at Lake Louise, races that Mark is targeting good performances at. Mark has had considerably less time than other World Cup athletes on his speed skis, said Coberger, we are about a month behind in preparations when compared to the others. Despite some good speed training this year at Mt Hutt, we have not been able to follow it up with speed work here in Canada as the snow has been slow in arriving. In fact the races were nearly cancelled. The following day a Super G was held on the same course and again Mark performed well, finishing 4.59 seconds behind winner Svindal of Norway. The downhill was won by a Canadian Jan Hudec. For full downhill result click here For full Super G result click here
